D&D in Russian!

A first for D&D now: a publication in Russian. Our good friend Dmitri Maslow and his colleague Alex Shestakov were writing an article about the Model, and invited Derek to join them as authors and contribute some of our thinking. The article has just been published in the journal 'Methods of Quality Management' in Russia.

'A Useful Model from the EFQM: Preventive Maintenance of a Management System' is only published in Russian and our Russian readers have two possible ways to look at it from our own site. You can either look at the pdf version of the article in our Downloads section or you can visit the article on the journal website (both methods open a new browser window). We thank Vera Luttseva at the journal for giving us permission to place a copy here.

Above the Clouds

Those of you who are also members of the EFQM may remember the 'Above the Clouds' project started by them a couple of years ago. This was a sort of 'open source' approach to understanding the direction of work now and in the future. Topics were added to the project website approximately monthly, and viewers could add their own thoughts and experiences on the subject - including how they saw it developing in future.

A book has now been published withthe findings of the research. The EFQM have also released - and asked us to share - an executive briefing about Above the Clouds report. The full book can be ordered from Greenleaf Publishing.

Derek recently met our former NatWest friend Susan Law, and learned more about how she has been closely involved with establishing a UK charity called Thatu. She remains a trustee. The charity's aims are to support self-help and home-grown food-related projects in poorly resourced communities in South Africa, with the aim of helping them to become more sustainable.

If you are interested in learning more about it, and perhaps even supporting them, do visit the Thatu website.
